I don't have perfect grades either. Understanding the inherent value that you offer is a bigger proposition to scholarship providers. What about your interests, story, background, and aspirations makes you different? The most important thing is to be authentic.
Your readers have your CV so the point of your statement is not to list what you did. Rather, I saw my statement as a place where I could give context as to why I organised or volunteered in certain things — to construct a coherent story of my unique vantage point.
Have a good story. Why this organisation? What spurs your interest in this domain? Have you demonstrated interest through activities and programmes? If you authentically believe this is the right opportunity for you, it will shine through. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
